To add to the variety of activities for the Storm Lake RAGBRAI® overnight event, Karen Carr, from Mason City, will read her children’s book, The Many Hats of Jeremiah Porter at The Storm Lake Public Library on Sunday, July 25 at 1 p.m. Children and families can also enjoy a sample of Mrs. Porter’s chocolate chip cookies!
An update to Storm Lake showers was made to include additional facilities near Sunrise Campground. Showers will also be available at St. Mary's School, not South School. See the map for details.
18-year-old Manning, Iowa, musician Brad Morgan will perform at Regatta Grille from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday. See the schedule for more entertainment.
KJYL Christian Radio (96.3 FM) and several area churches and businesses are sponsoring worship leader Laura Story from Atlanta, Ga., in a special RAGBRAI® outreach concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Sunset Park Bandshell. The concert is free and open to the public. There will also be a unique drama, "Lifehouse Everything," at the bandshell just prior to the Laura Story concert.
We have plenty of activities planned for your stay in Storm Lake. Once you’ve visited our vendors or restaurants, you will be ready to take in some events and entertainment. We have rock, Christian, R & B, classic rock, funk, dance and even classical music.
After that long ride from Sioux City, the RAGBRAI® riders and support crews will be hungry Sunday, July 25. The Storm Lake RAGBRAI® overnight committee has secured a number of vendors for everything from water to pasta to ice cream, mini donuts and even showers!

The Storm Lake Public Safety Department, in preparation for the city’s 2010 overnight RAGBRAI® event, has released bike routes, street closures and detour information in advance of the event. Mark Prosser, Public Safety Director states, “It is our hope that as the city roles out the red carpet for the thousands of visitors coming for Ragbrai that we can provide as much information for our own citizens and visitors so they can travel in and around Storm Lake in a safe and efficient manner.”
The downtown handicap parking area will be the City Hall parking lot located at East 6th and Erie Streets. The Sunset Park bandshell handicap parking area will be the south half of the 100 block of Ontario Street.
The Storm Lake RAGBRAI® overnight committee needs YOU! Beverage Garden and Entertainment committees are looking for a few good volunteers to work a couple of hours at the July 25 RAGBRAI® beverage garden near the mainstage area downtown on Lake Avenue. To volunteer, fill out a form today!
Storm Lake RAGBRAI® shirts are available for purchase at area businesses including B&K Mercantile, Osweilers, Silk Screen Ink, Buena Vista Stationery and Printing, Storm Lake United, Rasmussen Ford, Community Education, Hoffman’s Flower & Candle Shop, Walgreens, Lakeshore Cyclery and Fitness, Paxtons Jewelry and The Cutting Edge Salon. Shirts can also be purchased online. Locals and visitors will receive a $3 discount to enter the mainstage beverage garden July 25 and can visit the observation deck at the King’s Pointe lighthouse for free on July 25 - simply by wearing the Catch a Tailwind t-shirt.
Sponsor a port-a-pot while RAGBRAI® is in Storm Lake! The Storm Lake RAGBRAI® Committee will have 160 port-a-pots throughout town for RAGBRAI®, and all of the visitors will be using one! Port-a-pot sponsorship is $50, which includes your name posted clearly for everyone to see. To sponsor a port-a-pot, contact the planning committee.
An updated Storm Lake RAGBRAI® map is available for download. The map includes vendor and beer garden locations as well as shuttle routes and campgrounds. Download the map and plan your Storm Lake visit! Maps will also be available on July 25 at the information center.
Buena Vista University will offer sleeping area inside Lamberti Recreation Center for $20/person; the price includes shower. Outdoor sleeping area without shower access is $10/person through the university. Shower is $5.
